Idea #1: DIY Carbonation Machine

The REAL Carbonation Machine
You've probably heard about or even played around with one of those new-fangled soda makers. Basically, you add in syrup (sold separately) to water, it carbonates it and VOILA - you got soda! The idea is that soda has become boring and in order to make it more exciting, the Sodastream Fountain Jet gives people more advocacy in their soda enjoying experiencing. The website lists what are supposedly interesting flavors ("how about a ... CREAMSICLE!?!"), but I think it would be better if they had some actually interesting mixes, like country fried steak soda. Now, THAT'S something I'd want to sink my straw in to!

The ONLY Problem
I'm not made out of money, and so I don't buy soda much. However, the Sodastream Fountain Jet says it will save you money b/c the syrup is a lot cheaper than buying individual sodies. I haven't run a cost-benefit analysis, but the amount of soda I would have to drink to save 100 smackeroonies on syrup, would be a lot. Like, way more soda than I would want to drink, or even that would adequately entertain and delight party guests. So, here was my first idea:

"When I have children, I'll just tell them to blow bubbles into their flat, syrup concoctions" - Me

This idea pre-supposes that I would have already purchased the SodaMix syrup, which, as I just learned, isn't that good of a deal (10 bucks for 33 sodas - 33 cents a soda is fairly standard if you're buying in bulk!).

Anyhow, maybe I'll get some shady discount syrup, that's not the point. I'm just saying that my mouth or the mouths of my children can carbonate as well if not better than the SodaStream Fountain Jet.

Rachel's Critique
Rachel didn't like that idea at all, but thought she would try it. Into a cup of water, she blew as hard as she could, replicating the actions of my future children. Upon drinking the "carbonated" water, she remarked that "when I first slurp in the water, it definitely has an interesting sensation," she paused to swish the water around, believing for a moment that my idea may pass her excruciatingly severe critiquing system, "but my mouth quickly becomes too full of water, and as soon as I stop slurping, it's just regular old boring water again."

I hoped to receive a score in the low 5's to high 4's on account of the near acceptability of my idea. However, when the rankings came out, my idea received a solid score of:2.

Better luck next time, me.
